Tennis with Coach Sam

Photo of Coach Sam and Elijah

I am a committed Christian who views my tennis career as a ministry vehicle through which I can share the good news of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to those within my sphere of influence.  Over the years I have felt a stronger and stronger call to share my faith in Jesus Christ within the scope and framework of my coaching and networking.

I currently coach about 100 students year round at multiple locations. I have worked with some of these students and their families for years. In fact, in some cases I am coaching second generations within the same family!  I have been involved in the tennis industry as a player, coach, and club manager for twenty-one years. I am happily married with children

Please visit this link for more of my personal tesitmony as well as my compilation of useful Christian resources and links.

 BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!

Quick Start is a great new lesson and teaching format that is perfect for young people aged 4 through 11 years.  It incorporates modified balls, racquets, scaled down courts, and a quick and easy scoring system.

Quick Start is being used as a pilot program in both my League City PARD and Angleton Rec Center programs this September.  More info will be available soon.

Elijah Chadwell 2006

 Elijah Chadwell:
Elijah Chadwell loves tennis. We try to play tennis at least a few minutes every day.  Sometimes we just pour out a basket of balls and practice chasing and picking them up. At just four years old Elijah can already hit the ball over the net by himself. We are always working on agility, coordination and striking skills in a fun games based setting,  It is simply music to my ears to hear the words:  "I want to go to the tennis center, I want to play tennis with you, daddy...'  Elijah's other favorite hobbies include fishing, reading, and anything that has to do with Star Wars.   Check out Elijah's Blog.

Connor Copeland:
Connor is Coach Sam's stepson.  He's  helping Elijah with his forehand in the photo to the bottom right.  Connor will be a junior this fall at Columbia High School and plays for the Roughneck tennis team.  Check out  Connor's Blog Connor Copeland and Elijah Chadwell 2006.

In addition to tennis, Connor loves fitness and works out daily.  He is also a member of the Roughneck Cross Country Team and Track Team.  Of course, as a professional tennis coach I am delighted that Connor is interested in and excels at sports, but I am most proud of the fact that Connor is a strong Christian, loves the Lord Jesus Christ, and tries to witness to those around him.
